Chambers Of Commerce Executives of Albia Chamber Of Commerce:
Executive Director, Deborah Morgan Business classifications
SIC (US 1987) : Albia Industrial Development Corporation is an IRS tax-exempt certified non-profit corporation. It was organized in 1956 with one purpose in mind - to improve the economy of Albia and Monroe County by developing new employment opportunities for the residents of our area.
Following several rough years in the early 80’s when our community felt the loss of 80% of our manufacturing jobs due to the closing of two plants lost to corporate buyouts, AIDC redoubled its efforts to attract new investment and to retain those companies that remained.
In 1987, AIDC hired its first full time director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the corporation and to work with current and prospective companies to encourage their investment in Monroe County. In 1994, the corporation created a new position known as Community Development Specialist to focus on the various areas of community development work and to work to improve the quality of life in our county.
As it becomes more apparent that a Midwest location can benefit manufacturers in many ways, AIDC wants to be in a position to be able to continue to service the needs of industry as we have in the past. We have gained a reputation for honesty and hard work which we believe is the single most important thing we have to offer our industrial prospects.
